Welcome to the website of The B.E.S.T!
We exist because we believe that in order to better represent the 150,000 people
who live locally, the future of our towns’ senior football club needs;
- A wider more democratic ownership model than is current
- A greater visibility and higher level of involvement with our community
- To win more financial, political and practical support from within our community
- Closer ties with the local authority; the business sector and sporting organisations
- Development as a “Community Club” capable of listening and learning for the future
- A level of ambition we can “feel”
We believe the Supporters Trust model has a massive part to play in that long term vision.
The experience within the town is of a 100 year old club closed by private ownership in 1981 and reborn again in 1989, by virtue of the passion and hard graft of people who cared.
Those people developed a club which carried the dreams of many.
Sadly whilst succeeding on the field, and winning hearts and minds of a sound fan base, it failed financially, and was sold in 2000. It is now under the ultimate control of one person. We leave you to research the last 9 years
